Outstanding Medical Oncologist Joins Faculty at RPC

BUFFALO, NY – Kelvin P. Lee, MD, an outstanding national leader in medical oncology research, has been appointed Chair of the Department of Immunology and Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI).
Dr. Lee is an accomplished researcher whose investigations on the immunology and biology of multiple myeloma, the second most common blood cancer, are supported by several peer-reviewed grants from the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health. His cutting edge research in this area has been presented at professional conferences around the world, including Canada, Greece and Australia. Dr. Lee has authored or co-authored more than 60 journal articles, abstracts and books.
In his roles as Chairman of Immunology and Vice Chair of Medicine, Dr. Lee will be responsible for strengthening existing programs and establishing new clinical and research initiatives and training opportunities. Dr. Lee will also continue the development of scientific and clinically based collaborations to further translational research (“bench to bedside”) programs at RPCI.
Dr. Lee joins RPCI from University of Miami Medical School/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he served as Professor of Microbiology and Immunology; Professor of Medicine (Hematology/Oncology), Director of the Cell Banking and Purification Core Facility; Co-Director of the Clinical Oncology Research Program and Co-Program Leader of the Tumor Immunology Program.
Dr. Lee earned his medical degree from University of Michigan (UM) Medical School, Ann Arbor; completed residency training at the University of Colorado, Denver; a clinical fellowship at the UM Medical School and a research fellowship at the UM Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
