Thoracic Surgeon Joins Roswell Park Faculty

BUFFALO, NY - Sai Yendamuri, MD, has been appointed staff physician in the Thoracic Division of the Department of Surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI). He will treat patients diagnosed with lung and esophageal cancer using the latest treatment options such as endobronchial ultrasound and advanced airway interventions.
Dr. Yendamuri comes to RPCI from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, where he completed a residency in cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Yendamuri also will serve as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University at Buffalo.
Dr. Yendamuri earned his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India (1997). Following residency training in general surgery at Christana Care Health System, Newark, Delaware (2001) and at the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens/Cornell University, New York (2005), he completed fellowships in research at Harrison Department of Surgical Research, Philadelphia, PA (2003), and in lung transplantation at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO (2006). He is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Yendamuri’s research interests include molecular staging of thoracic malignancies, lung cancer screening, and risk prediction using genomic markers. He is a member of the Association for Academic Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Yendamuri has authored and co-authored several journal publications, books and book chapters. He has been invited to present at the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer World Conference in Seoul, Korea (September 5, 2007). His presentation is titled “Comparison of Limited Surgery and 3D Conformal Radiation in High Risk Patients with Stage IA Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.”
