Darryl Somayaji joined RPCI in 2000 as a Clinical Research Nurse for the Department of Surgery, Soft Tissue and Melanoma Service. Ms. Somayaji then worked as a Clinical Research Specialist and Director of Clinical Research Network for Clinical Research Services in 2002-2007. In 2007, Darryl joined the Department of Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Ms. Somayaji first earned a Diploma in Nursing through the State of New York at Gowanda Psychiatric Center School of Nursing in 1975. In 1998, Ms Somayaji completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Niagara University. She went on to complete her Masters of Science in Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Community Health at D’Youville College in 2003. Ms. Somayaji is currently enrolled in a Doctorate of Philosophy Degree Program in Nursing with a focus in oncology. She is a Graduate Fellow at the University of Utah. In 2007, Darryl was awarded the American Cancer Society (ACS) Doctoral Degree Scholarship. The ACS Scholarship is awarded to graduate students pursuing doctoral study in the field of cancer nursing research, and preparing for careers as nurse scientists.
Ms. Somayaji is licensed by the State of New York as a Registered Nurse and certified as a Clinical Research Coordinator.

Ms. Somayaji is a co-author of a book chapter [in press], and author and co-author on several abstracts for poster and podium presentations for Oncology Nursing Society Congress and the Advancement of Nursing Science Congress. Ms. Somayaji is a co-investigator on several research studies.
