Early Stage Survival Outcomes
The term "cancer survival" refers to the proportion of patients alive at some point subsequent to the diagnosis of their cancer. These graphs show the overall five-year survival rates for patients treated at Roswell Park in 1998 and 1999, compared to National benchmarks. In assessing these data, it is critical that the reader understand that these show overall survival and not just survival from lung cancer, as patients may have died of causes other than lung cancer. As expected, the survival decreases with a more advanced stage of cancer.
Below are the charts that represent the survival curves for Roswell Park patients diagnosed with late stage lung cancer. The Roswell Park data is compared to national survivor rates.
